Spouse is making it really hard to come back home from rehab. She wants to control my every move. Suggestions?
Have you tried it that way before? What works for some may not work for everyone. That she is willing to give you another chance is a miracle . Try and sit down and have a conversation about how that makes you feel and why she believes she would need to take those extreme measures. Compromise on both sides helps, and talking is the thing that helps the most! Talk, talk, talk!
Having just gone through this, I think Karen’s advice is great…
I’m a rookie but judging from feedback this strategy was a game changer for me.
I lead with: “look you have no reason whatsoever to trust me. It takes much longer to build those bridges you burn.”
Disarmed now.
Say what your thinking.
I bought drug tests and took them when I was questioned for example. Look you have no reason to trust me. But let me pee in this cup so we can move forward.
