Current Volunteer Resources
If you have needs/ideas that would help in your volunteer/facilitation efforts, please contact Melina Gilbert, Volunteer Outreach Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our current volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization, our feet on the street, working hard to spread self-empowering messages to their local communities. We deeply appreciate the hard work and dedication you put into SMART Recovery and we want to support you in your efforts.
We will soon be launching a portal for our current volunteers. The portal will include useful materials, tools, contact information, announcements, and more to support your efforts as a SMART Recovery volunteer. In the meantime, please find a few important resources and announcements below. You can also find existing promotional materials, door signs, and facilitator tools on this page. Stay tuned for more information on this facilitator portal in the coming months.
Our dedicated team of volunteer Regional Coordinators (RCs) located throughout the country assists facilitators and Local Coordinators in their regions. RCs provide support and guidance to volunteers in areas such as starting new meetings, addressing issues within their meetings, and speaking requests. Click here to find your Regional Coordinator.
Become a Regional Coordinator: Our goal is to have one volunteer Regional Coordinator for each state. If you are interested in becoming an RC and have been a facilitator for a minimum of one year, click here for full volunteer job description and application process.
Local Coordinators (LCs) are a resource for facilitators in a cluster of local meetings where face-to-face contact is often difficult due to the Regional Coordinator’s physical location.
If you are interested in becoming a Local Coordinator, click here for full volunteer job description and application process.
Meeting reminder: SMART Meeting Management Meetings are open to all active SMART Recovery Facilitators, Hosts, and Trainees interested in improving their knowledge base. The objective of the SMM Meetings is to advance our meeting management skills. We’ll discuss the tough and sensitive issues that arise and share successes and techniques, including following meeting guidelines, how to do SMART Recovery and how to create an accepting and non-judgmental environment. Although facilitated, this is very much a group learning/support session. SMM meetings take place weekly on Monday at 10:00 p.m. (ET) and Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. (ET).
Please Contribute Your Pass the Hat Donations to the National Office! We want to say THANK YOU! to the nearly 150 SMART Recovery groups this year that have sent donations to the National Office from Pass the Hat. We appreciate your contributions!
These contributions help us provide resources to our facilitators, offer reduced cost training to those who qualify, and support the enormous task of maintaining and improving the national website and its growing resources for volunteers and participants. Additionally, it is beneficial for meeting participants to feel they are investing in their ongoing recovery.
We recognize that you may have local expenses, such as copying. However, we hope to see the remainder of your donations.
Submitting your donations is easy!
Simply click here to donate online. You can also mail a check to the National Office, or include a group donation on your next book order (by adding the “Make a Donation to SMART Recovery” item to your shopping cart).
Please include your meeting ID number, meeting city and state, so we can associate the donation with your group.
