1000 Days!I
Yes,1000 Days since my last drink. I remember it very vividly.Would it really
be my last drink? I was hoping so.I was determined.
Determined to not only get my life back but to become the person I am
meant to be.
I knew it would be a lot of work.Work I was willing to do.Drinking every day
was a lot of work. The planning, the lying the sneaking, shame guilt well...
you get it.
I began my journey in a 6 week in patient treatment. My counsellors were
teaching and I was learning! My self esteem was growing and I was focused.
The real test came when I returned home. Can I do it? YES I am doing it.
I leaned on my supports and stayed out of situations I wasn't comfortable in.
And...I joined SMART.
Has every day been glorious since I quit? Ummm...No,but sometimes life happens and I have a
choice how I handle it.
In the beginning it was one day at a time.It was less daunting than the thought of never ever
drinking again.
So... For anyone reading this please know, with work and determination and focus this can be done.
It was words in these forums and F 2 F meetings that gave me hope when I felt hopeless.
Thanks for reading

WOW! I want a thousand days. Congrats Peg! I am 1/3 there. I agree with you that at first just taking it a day at a time. Now I can do a week at a time, lol, maybe one day I can do months then years...

Drinking WAS a lot of work! Even on the tough days, it seems so much easier to not drink.
Congrats on 1000 days! That is awesome.

I too embraced my inner Lazy and quit.
I was running myself into the ground drinking. I had to work so hard to keep all my various plates spinning without having any on them fall to the ground. Life is SO much easier now.
Well done!

I like the video of the plates... I also have to apologize for my sub-par math skills, I am a bit over 1/2 way to 1000. Today is day 589. Change is possible. I do not want to go back to plate spinning...

Sensational effort!!
So wonderful! What got me sober was trying to get sober. Often when I lapsed, picked up, drank, I FELT thoroughly beaten. I thought at that time "there is no hope for me"Yet, when I had recovered from that thought just a little, I thought "I'll have another go!"
It was a few little sparks, rather than a flame, that got me here!
