SMART Recovery® and SMART Recovery On Line (both hereby jointly referred to as SROL) is committed to protecting your personal information. Personal information includes personal communications. We recognise that your privacy is very important to you and that you have a right to control your personal information. Unless you give explicit consent for SROL to act otherwise, the following policies govern how SROL will use and safeguard your privacy.
SROL collects personal information only from the individual concerned and holds only such personal information as is reasonable and necessary for us to deliver services to our members and to the wider community.
You may provide SROL with information directly, such as on a message board membership registration, subscribing to a newsletter, email lists or identifying yourself when using particular services e.g. chat rooms. The amount and type of information collected depends upon the services used. The only personal information collected is what you provide.
Our web servers log the following information which is provided by your browser and is used for statistical purposes only:

Information will be used or disclosed only for the primary purpose for which it was collected. Information provided to us may be used to keep you better informed about the activities and services of SROL, for example by email. Individuals have the right to opt out of receiving any of these sources of information.
Personal information will not be used or disclosed by SROL for a secondary purpose unless that purpose is closely related to the primary purpose and you could reasonably expect the information to be used in that way, or SOL has a legal obligation to disclose such information.

SROL takes reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information collected and used is accurate and up to date. We seek members' assistance to keep SROL informed of change of email address or other details.
To update or delete your personal information please send any corrections using the Contact Us Form (click here) . Please provide your username, display name and email address you provided when you registered as appropriate.
We will take all reasonable steps to meet any request to have personal information deleted unless it is required for legal or administrative reasons.
SECURITY OF INFORMATION
SROL takes every care to protect personal information from unauthorised use or disclosure and from loss.
You can assist us by ensuring that you maintain the confidentiality of your passwords and accounts.
Personal information will be destroyed or permanently de-identified when it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected providing it is no longer required for legal or administrative reasons.
